Ways To Clean Metal That’s Discolored by Heat

Metal is a strong material, but it’s not without faults. Certain conditions, such as heat, can damage metal. Thankfully, there are ways to clean metal that’s discolored by heat. Keep reading to learn about these methods.

Cleaning By Hand With a Vinegar and Baking Soda Paste

One of the most popular ways to clean heat discoloration off metal is with a vinegar-baking soda paste. Simply use a 2:1 ratio of vinegar to baking soda. This means you use two parts vinegar for every one part of baking soda. Mix them into a paste, and then apply the paste to the stained metal. Allow the paste to sit for a few minutes. Then, use a clean, non-abrasive sponge to scrub your discolored metal. This should remove the stain.

Softly Clean With Club Soda

If the vinegar-baking soda paste doesn’t completely remove the heat stain, then club soda might do the trick. Pour the club soda onto a clean, soft cloth until the cloth is lightly saturated. Scrub the stained metal with the wet cloth until the stain is gone. This should remove the discoloration.

Abrasive Cleaning With a Vibratory Tumbler

Cleaning by hand with either a paste or club soda yields great results, but it can take a long time. If your business is trying to keep up with demand, then you don’t have the time for these slower cleaning processes, and an industrial vibratory tumbler is the answer. The combination of an abrasive media and cleaning compound will quickly and efficiently clean multiple metal products at once, removing heat discoloration stains and saving you time.
